In 2017 Darke & Taylor is throwing its weight behind two local business awards, demonstrating its enthusiasm and support for the business community in Oxfordshire.
The inaugural Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards are taking place on 8th March 2017, and Darke & Taylor is the headline sponsor, with Commercial Director Simon Newton having a place on the awards committee that has been formed to oversee the organisation and delivery of the awards.
Awards will be given in the following categories: Intermediate Apprentice of the Year; Advanced Apprentice of the Year; Higher Apprentice of the Year; Special Recognition Award; Training Provider Award and School Award, as well as the Oxfordshire Apprentice of the Year Award, and a special Apprenticeship Ambassador Award to be chosen by Oxfordshire Apprenticeships.
Entries have now closed, and the finalists in each category will be announced on 9th February, with the winners being revealed at the ceremony on 8th March which is being held at the Marlborough Enterprise Centre in Woodstock.
Simon Newton said: “Apprenticeships are a key element of our business and instrumental in enabling us to build a skilled and loyal workforce. We are honoured to be the headline sponsor and are looking forward to celebrating the success of apprentices across Oxfordshire and highlighting the contribution they make to businesses across a diverse range of sectors.”
Darke & Taylor is also proud to be sponsoring the ‘Business of the Year’ category at the renowned Oxfordshire Business Awards, which have been recognising the best individuals and businesses in Oxfordshire for 23 years.
There are 13 categories including innovation, start-ups, small business, big business, apprenticeships, charity, marketing and tourism as well as ‘Young Business Person of the Year’ and ‘Business Person of the Year.’ First stage entry to the awards closes on Friday 17th March, and full details on how to enter can be found here.
The winner of the prestigious Darke & Taylor ‘Business of the Year’ award will be picked from all the finalists and will be the business most able to demonstrate all-round achievement, a clear vision for the future, success against objectives and sustained growth. In 2015 Darke & Taylor was itself awarded the top accolade, as well as the Apprenticeship of the Year Award, and this achievement came hot on the heels of its success in 2014 when it won the NatWest Large Business Award.
Paul McNaughton, Managing Director at Darke & Taylor, said: “Winning awards gives companies the opportunity to celebrate their achievements amongst staff members, customers, and suppliers, setting a positive tone for the months ahead. There are so many businesses in our local area who are making a significant mark in their respective sectors not only regionally, but in many cases nationally and even internationally and, in doing so, are contributing a great deal to Oxfordshire’s economy.”
“We are looking forward to coming together at the awards ceremony on Friday 16th June at The King’s Centre in Oxford to applaud and commend all the great work, service and innovation that is being undertaken.”
