“Our robust judging process means that being selected as one of our Finalists is a significant achievement…..the two-stage approach involves a written submission and a personal presentation.”
Darke & Taylor had a great night at this year’s Constructing Excellence in London & the South East Awards on 30th June 2016. The Constructing Excellence Awards focus attention on some of the most important issues for the sector, recognising the very best companies, collaborations and projects – sharing best practice and inspiring others to adopt new and better ways of working that deliver outstanding results.
“Finalists faced a ‘Dragon’s Den’ style contest to win their category. Awesome Judging Day – great projects, companies and people. Hard decisions for the judges.”
Darke & Taylor were finalists in two categories, Apprenticeship Initiative and Health & Safety Initiative and, whilst we did not win, we are really proud to have been awarded a “Highly Commended” for our Apprenticeship Initiative, one of only 3 such accolades handed out across the 15 award categories on the night. This was cause for great celebration for our team of 11 employees who attended the ceremony, most of whom started their careers at the company as an apprentice.
As the judges commented “Darke & Taylor make huge investments in resources to address the skills shortage in the electrical industry. They are committed to sustaining a competent workforce – particularly challenging in an industry where technology is advancing quickly and where health & safety is a key concern.”
We are also proud to have a strong association with two of the other awards on the night as we are the solar PV installer on the new Gagle Brook Primary School being built at North West Bicester Eco Town which won the Sustainability Award and were the specialist M&E services contractor for Morgan Sindall on the University Campus Aylesbury Vale project which was a finalist in the Integration & Collaborative Working Award.
