Nine members of staff from Darke & Taylor are joining a team of structural engineers, architects and mechanical engineers to run the Oxford Half Marathon on Sunday 8th October and raise funds for Sobell House Hospice.
Sobell House provides palliative and end of life care for the people of Oxfordshire, and Oxford City Council recently approved plans to expand the range of services and facilities it offers at its site in Headington. This includes six new palliative care bedrooms, a dementia-friendly garden annexe, a new lymphoedema clinic and offices.
The professional team carrying out the work, made up of employees from Darke & Taylor, Gray Baynes and Shew, Glanville Projects and FG Alden, has formed ‘Team Expansion’ with the aim of raising £10k for the charity through running the Oxford Half. The team is training hard, and you can follow their story and support them in their efforts via www.justgiving.com/fundraising/team-expansion.
Graham Winstone, Director at Darke & Taylor, who is running on the day, said: “Sobell House plays an important role in our local community and we are delighted to support them through our membership of ‘The 40 Club,’ which means we have committed to raising a minimum of £10,000 for them over four years. It’s fantastic to join the project team working on the expansion to take part in the Oxford Half Marathon and get closer towards our target.”
