The Construction Livery Group held its 2019 awards ceremony at Carpenters’ Hall on 11th March 2019. The awards date back to 2001 when Masters certificates were first awarded to those who have held a leading position in their profession. These were then extended to include awards for both Journeymen and Apprentices.
This year there were 10 Livery Companies presenting their awards at the ceremony, which is a regular appointment in the Lord Mayors calendar each year. One of these Companies was the Worshipful Company of Lightmongers which is one of the modern Livery companies, members of which are involved in the lighting industry. It is number 96 in the order of precedence within the City of London.
This year the Master Lightmonger Steve Thomas read the charges for the Apprentice Certificate Award to Darke & Taylor’s Conor McCarthy one of our recently qualified electricians. The certificate was presented by the Rt Hon the Lord Mayor, Alderman Peter Estlin.
The Worshipful Company of Lightmongers commented that Conor had made “remarkable progress in both his academic and professional skills in the field of Electrical Installation Engineering as an apprentice at Darke and Taylor”.
This award was in addition to Conor’s recent success as one of just three national finalists in the 2018 ECA Edmundson Apprentice of the Year competition.
Congratulations Conor, what a fantastic start to your career in the industry!
